About The Poutama TukuTuku Panel.
In meeting houses, the panels are usually mirror imaged (a reflection) so that the steps climb upwards from both sides to reach the top of the center. The poutama (step-like pattern) has both religions and educational and the growth mans meanings. The step symbolise levels of attainment and advancement. Tukutuku panels are māori patterns, and are used in marae´s.
